Susan Bird focuses her practice primarily in the areas of medical malpractice, nursing home/assisted living defense, and regulatory/licensure investigations.
Susan is also a licensed registered nurse; her extensive prior experience as a nurse, assistant director of nursing at a community hospital, and a risk manager helps her to bring unique insight to her representation of hospitals, physicians, nurses, other medical professionals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.
In her medical malpractice work, Susan represents hospitals, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in claims of negligence regarding breaches in the standard of care. With other members of the medical malpractice team, Susan works to develop liability causation and damages defenses and assert the rights of the providers.
Susan also has significant experience working with nursing homes, long-term care facilities, and assisted living facilities, defending them against allegations of violation of resident rights, abuse, and neglect, and helping develop liability defense.
As a licensed professional, both as a nurse and lawyer, Susan knows that claims can be made against professionals that may jeopardize the futures of their careers. A native Floridian, Susan was born and raised in St. Augustine. She and her husband enjoy boating, spending time at the beach, and spending time with their family. Susan’s husband is a pilot, and they also enjoy traveling to new places.
